Outings 03 - Miami Center for Architecture and Design

EXILE Books, the exhibition currently at the center is expertly well crafter between the nuances of a travelling bookstore, and a work of art all in itself. A Pop-Up Book fair of sorts, it migrates throughout Miami, spending two to three months in each location. As a tool to exacerbate the importance for artist’s publications and works, it functions as a matter of both sale and study of the publishing of printed works.

LISTEN TO THIS BUILDING.
Incredibly interesting idea in which the viewer is subjected to understanding the definitions of a building through senses other than visual. Tactile relief works of ten buildings in Miami serve as a concept to materialize the reality behind the disability of losing one’s vision. A Model of the FIU College of Architecture + Arts is also on display, printed in 3D polymer and blocked on all sides by boards, makes the viewer feel through the top and listen to the inside of the scale down model as to understand the outlying factors besides its visual details.

Overall both a sense of utter experimentation with the senses and a rewarding way to spend a Tuesday afternoon.
