Outings 01 - Freedom Tower MUSEUM OF ART + Design

Where have I been? What have I been doing? Well- I suppose I can show you;

Miami Dade College      MUSEUM OF ART + DESIGN

The Freedom is currently showcasing three different artists on their public exhibitions, Robert Huff, Robert Thiele, and Karen Rifas. All three artists showcase a wide breadth of skill and expertise, each on their own theme and ideals.

Robert Huff, having been a Miami resident, the city of Miami wanted to showcase their appreciation for their contemporary citizen by honoring him with the 47 Years exhibition. Robert Huff’s work includes geometric shapes delineated by color, and sharp and curved angles. Depicting very stylized aesthetic his works have an urban trend spanning most of his show.

Karen Rifas offered a set of ideas based rigidly on geometry and lines. Her approach to the feasibility of perfectly euclidean forms to denote organic space is expertly illustrated through the use of thread, fiberboard, and cardboard.

Robert Thiele captivated my attention with his installations and wall hangings, having been mostly carved stone or granite. His biggest piece in the exhibition, taking up the length of an entire room, successfully indicated the necessity of how negative space can be extremely additive to a piece. It felt like you entered a whole new world, felt like a temple. I was in a state of awe, both complete serenity and deeply terrified at the same time.

                                                It was a great time, overall.
